The Brocken, at 1142 metres, is the highest mountain in the Harz and northern Germany. In addition to the distinctive transmission towers, the tower of the weather station is also located, somewhat lower down, on the summit of the Brocken. You can reach the tower after a few minutes' walk on the way from the Brockenbahn station up to the Brocken plateau. During the winter season, the landscape around the Brocken Garden is transformed into a fairytale world with its bizarre snow and ice formations. This picture was taken in the early morning shortly after sunrise. During the so-called golden hour, the snow loses its cool colour. The contrast here is the deep blue sky.
