We are on the 10,000 m² market square of the Hanseatic city of Wismar. It's August and a festive event is about to take place in the centre of this historic square. The view sweeps along the historic town buildings to the left, from the Old Sweden, built in brick Gothic style, to the Reuterhaus and the Hanseatic town houses. The famous waterworks from 1579 are enthroned in the middle. In the 16th century, the city fathers began to organise the city's drinking water supply. The spring water from the nearby mill pond was channelled through wooden pipes to a collecting basin on the market square.
