In the spring of 1886, Monet traveled to the Netherlands for a short time to paint. When he returned to France, he worked during the summer in the landscape near Giverny, accompanied by Blanche Hoschedé, the daughter his patron, art collector Ernest Hoschedé. Blanche served as his assistant during that time. Her sister Suzanne Hoschedé regularly modeled for Monet and also posed for both versions of "woman-with-parasol
