About "Yellow, dilapidated storefront in Tallinn, Estonia"

About the artwork

Among slightly more modern and refurbished buildings on the outskirts of Tallin's old historic downtown, on a small side street called Valli is this building that houses two more stores.

The paint is peeling and the maintenance is 20 years behind but the building is just beautiful in ugliness. It becomes, as it were, an object an sich.

Although it was quite a challenge to get this building on the photo since there are cars parked in front of it. And not just any cars but Porsches, Audis and Mercedes, one even bigger, faster and more expensive than the other. Apparently there is a gambling house in there which attracts a lot of young and rich Estonians.

In the end, I chose to stand close to the building, take two overlapping series of exposures and later edit them together. The processing applied here is not called "dream smoothing" for nothing, and gives the dilapidated building something special, as if it came from a dreamscape.
