In Sanskrit (the ancient holy language of India) yoga is called: yuga. Yugh means unification, connection, union. The root of the word is related to our word yoke, the meaning of which is to join, bring together, connect. Like a yoke, two oxen join together to unite their strength. Through breathing exercises, body exercises (asanas), concentration exercises and meditation, yoga brings unity to the body and mind.
