A young horseman barely ten years old, caught in a moment of stillness and strength. His figure stands out against the endless grasslands of Kyrgyzstan, where the horizon merges with the enchanting Soň-Köl Lake and the mountains in the distance. Half standing in the stirrups, back to us, he seems about to ride off into the wide world. The colours exude the pure, pristine beauty of the steppe.
The inspiration for this work came during my trip through Kyrgyzstan, where freedom and simplicity are still palpable. This image tells a story of childlike open-mindedness, but also of responsibility: on these high plains, young people learn to be independent.
The atmosphere is hushed, poetic and spacious. The portrait invites you to stand still for a moment, feel the wind and hear the silence of the steppe. It is an ode to boundless freedom and the deep bond between humans, animals and nature.
What makes this work special in an interior? It gives a sense of space and serenity, even in a busy urban environment. The earthy and subtle pastel tones fit effortlessly into modern, Scandinavian or minimalist interiors, while the subject matter adds a touch of adventure and authenticity.
