Zen in the Miniature World

by Christian Ovís

‘Zen in the Miniature World’ depicts a bonsai tree in a black round pot on a low rectangular platform. The trunk curves upwards in a whimsical line towards a broad, compact green crown. Behind the tree hangs a light-coloured rectangular shape with a circular pattern and thin dark edges. The wall and background are a soft cream colour, making the tree and the dark platform stand out clearly.

The composition combines an organic, natural motif with clean lines. The winding trunk passes partly in front of the circular motif, connecting the various shapes. Small layers of branches beneath the upper crown lend the bonsai depth. The open centre of the platform echoes the horizontal direction. Soft shadows maintain the sense of space in the light surroundings without adding too much contrast. The limited colour palette allows the green crown to form the most important natural accent.

This tranquil bonsai wall decoration suits a Japandi, Scandinavian or minimalist interior. Cream, black and green combine with wood and natural tones. The piece is suitable for a living room, hall or quiet workspace. A plain wall complements the simple composition. From a distance, the tree and the circular motif stand out. Up close, the delicate branches, trunk structure and subtle shadows become visible.
