About ‘Zomersloot – Pieterpad’ by Wietske Westra

This work is part of my summer series, inspired by walks along the Pieterpad. Whereas the earlier works from the spring series still felt soft and tentative, this phase is increasingly about warmth, light and growth. In this image, a narrow ditch winds its way through a bright green landscape. Tall grasses and small white flowers grow along the water’s edge. The light reflects softly off the water’s surface, whilst the trees on the horizon almost dissolve into the warm summer air. The colours are fresh and bright, with soft purple hues in the sky lending the work a dreamlike atmosphere.

I created this piece using chalk, working in multiple layers to give the landscape a soft and almost luminous quality. The visible lines and textures of the chalk ensure the image remains vibrant.

For me, this work is about tranquillity and slowing down. About warm days when you stroll slowly along the water’s edge and don’t have to go anywhere for a while. It is a little slice of summer that seems to stand still. With its fresh green tones and light colours, this work brings a calm, natural atmosphere to an interior.

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
