This is a digitally produced collage.
The vase of flowers and the shells are from the still life "Flowers in a Wan-Li vase and shells", painted around 1640-1650 by Dutch painter Balthasar van der Ast (1593/1594 -1657).
I digitally removed the still life from its original background and placed it in front of a bookcase with antique books, as if the vase with flowers were now in an antique library, or perhaps in a bookshop.
The vintage light bulb that atmospherically illuminates this cosy scene is from my private collection ;-)
The stylists at Art Heroes call my art style ‘Art with a Wink’. And I couldn't agree more. Life is serious enough as it is, don't you think? ;-)
