Fascinating how large groups of birds can fly together without one crashing. At high tide they gather to wait out the tide. If the water is too high, they simply cannot reach even the curlew and avocet. Curlews are very cautious and can easily be disturbed. They then fly up or sit somewhere else. The yodelling and calling of all those birds is great to hear. The warm light and blue sky does the rest. When I think back, I still feel what I felt when I was shooting. Birds have simply captured my heart. A camera and lens alone are not enough; time and place are decisive. The avocet is also a breeding bird, as is the curlew.
