About "cat."

About the artwork

'cat.' is my mother's favorite animal, and the second work in the @_favanimals collection.

'cat.' is headstrong, sensitive, can be icy cold but has a nose for warmth. She always finds it.

'cat.' is agile, light on her feet, and has the fastest reaction time of all animals on land.

'cat.' hears everything with her big ears.

This work came to life in my attic room on the Stadhouderskade in Amsterdam in the year 2015.

The works in the series are created on an Apple iPad2 and I use the application paper53. I only use my fingers. Each work starts with a free sketch. I draw thick black lines over the parts of the sketch that I am satisfied with. I emphasize these with more black, so that a solid contour is created. Then I clean up the work and stylize the design.

The patterns arise spontaneously and I allow myself to make 'mistakes' in this, trying to surprise myself. With 'cat.' I know that she is particularly sensitive at the attachment of the tail, and the 'nerve endings' make this visible.

My mother likes to wear jewelry. 'cat.' therefore has a simple but elegant collar.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers. Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
