About the artwork

At the edge of the Strait of Gibraltar stood an ancient olive tree, a silent witness to centuries of struggles with nature. Its trunk was twisted, its branches seemed to have fled to one side in panic. Like a living sculpture, shaped by the never-ending force of the wind, it stood there - proud, powerful, and fearless.
He had stood there for a long time and had clearly made his mark. The wind had given him his form over the years during the growth process he went through, it eventually produced this beautiful shape. The wind, which came blowing in from the sea day after day, seemed to have teased it like an invisible enemy. With every storm, his branches were bent to one side, with every squall nature tried to break him.
Olive trees quite often have holes in their trunks like this one. The tree is quite strong if you consider all the storms it went through, it is a miracle it survived. Nature tells a lot of stories if you look closely. People also sometimes have something like that which they radiate. Their wrinkles and backs tell many a story of what they have been through.
