Horses in the dunes along the coast. In the coastal dunes graze the robust Exmoor ponies, a breed perfectly adapted to rugged nature. With their thick coat and strong build, they effortlessly brave the changing seasons and salty climate. These semi-wild horses play an important role in managing the dune landscape: by grazing, they keep the area open and prevent bushes and trees from taking over the dunes.
You often see them in small herds, walking quietly among the marram grass and low bushes, while the sea murmurs in the background. Their presence gives the dunes a lively character and offers hikers a unique opportunity to admire these beautiful animals in their natural habitat.
