About the artwork
'scorpion.' is the favourite animal of a dear friend and is the seventh work in the @_favanimals collection.
'scorpion.' has thick armour and razor-sharp claws, be you bearded.
'scorpion.' is represented as a constellation in the universe, making it a mythical animal.
'scorpion.' is related to the spider, perhaps somewhat feared by the masses but perhaps also somewhat misunderstood.
I drew this arthropod in 2019, during a trip to Asia.
The works in the series originate on an Apple iPad2 and I use the application paper53. I use only my fingers. Each work starts with a free sketch. I draw thick black lines over the parts of the sketch I am happy with. I highlight those with more black, creating a solid outline. Then I clean up the work and style the design.
My friend is also a surfer. The wave in the sting of the tail is inspired by this.
