Delft is a city and municipality in South Holland Netherlands, between The Hague and Rotterdam. Delft has a historic city center, developed into an industrial city in the 19th century and now presents itself with the presence of a Technical University and the research institutes TNO and Deltares. In the history of the Netherlands, Delft is best known because William of Orange resided there from 1572 and was murdered there in 1584. Since then, the Oranges have traditionally been buried in Delft. The nickname of Delft is the Princes City.
