Dolmen on canvas, poster, wallpaper and ArtFrame by Gerry van Roosmalen

Dolmens are probably the oldest monuments in the Netherlands. They are built from the boulders that were left here when the ice of the last ice age retreated. Dolmens served as burial chambers. It used to be thought that the Hunebeds were not built by humans, but by giants. (Huynen). The Hunebeds were built by the Funnel Beaker people. The Hunebeds were originally covered with sand and grass. You only saw an elongated hill. The Hunebedden are located in the Hondsrug, Unesco Global Geopark.
