The Russian painter, graphic artist and art theorist Wassily Kandinsky (* 1866 † 1944) is considered one of the most important pioneers of abstract painting, classical modernism. He lived and worked in Russia, Germany and France. Together with Franz Marc, he was the founder of the editorial community Der Blaue Reiter. During the Weimar Republic, he worked as a teacher at the Bauhaus.
