About Boris de Leeuwe

Boris de Leeuwe (Amsterdam, 1976) began his career as an animator (HKU) and went on to work as a teacher and painter. Years of experience in drawing and meditation form the basis of my painting: attention, rhythm and movement play a central role.

I paint in my studio in Amsterdam and en plein air, and also produce drawings on a regular basis. I often paint in acrylics. The quick drying time allows for intuitive experiments with colour and working in layers. This gives rise to impressionist landscapes with a tranquil, sometimes romantic atmosphere, in which water, trees and reflections slowly emerge from the painting process.

Letting go of a focus on the end result and observing the subject with attention are, for me, at the heart of my work. My paintings invite you to slow down for a moment and feel the silence of nature.
