Chris de Bruin (24 April 1976) is a street artist from Sliedrecht who brings the raw energy of the street to life on canvas. His work is inspired by the visual violence of big cities - weathered walls, torn posters and fleeting graffiti - and translates it into powerful portraits full of character.
His paintings are a unique mix of materials: old street posters, acrylic paint and spray paint layers are brought together in compositions that feel as if they were taken straight off a metropolis wall. Each work bears the traces of the street: rough, layered and lived-in.
Chris' style is instantly recognisable. His art does not seem newly made, but rather as if it has lived on the streets for years - with a history, a voice and a story.
