I was born on 23 January 1963 in Venlo and grew up in the city centre. After graduating from the Grafisch Lyceum, I studied Fashion Design at the Academy of Fine Arts St. Joost in Breda. After working at Studio Stylisti Luigi Coicca in Milan, Italy, I spent a decade working in textiles.
Despite my background in textiles, my interests in communication and design took over. In 2001, together with a partner, I started my own marketing and communications agency. In 2012, however, I continued on my own under the name DX FineArt Photography.
My passion for panoramic photography has always been present and was instilled in me at a young age. My father, Dick Schoenmakers Sr., collected old photos and prints of Venlo throughout his life. My mission is to touch people and make them think.
