I took this macro shot of a flower of a crocus in the backyard. Even though it was not yet spring but just winter this crocus was already blooming. You can see in this flower have two shades of purple. The bulbs of these crocuses stay in the ground all year, it is a surprise every year where they emerge. I used a macro lens on my camera for this photo. As it was reasonably sunny, I did not use flash. I did have to keep my camera low to the ground for this macro photo to get to the same height of the flower.
