This work shows a girl with a big blue umbrella, dressed in a cheerful coat with patches of colour in soft tones. Her hair is blowing loosely in the wind and she is smiling as if she is living in her own world. What makes the picture special are the fish swimming through the air around her - as if the laws of nature do not apply here for a moment. Among the many orange goldfish, one blue fish swims, a detail that can symbolise daring to be different or following your own path.

The inspiration for this work comes from my love of playing with reality and imagination. I find it exciting to twist everyday scenes just a little, so that they evoke a smile or provoke wonder. I find the idea that something familiar, like an umbrella in the rain, suddenly takes on a surreal character fascinating.

The mood of this painting is light, humorous and dreamy at the same time. It radiates cheerfulness, but also leaves room for interpretation: maybe it is about freedom, maybe about fantasy, maybe just about fun.
