This deserted, urban motif with the former outdoor platform hall was taken on 25 August 2025 during my day trip to the beautiful Andalusian city of Cádiz.
The motif was exposed with the NIKON D800 camera (lens: NIKKOR).
The clear, symmetrical arrangement of the wooden doors and the roofed glass construction give the old railway station concourse a harmonious appearance. The incidence of light through the matt glass panes in the glass roof gives the building motif a soft, diffuse lighting mood.
The reduction of the colour tones to classic black and white lends the motif an elegant and timeless atmosphere.

A few steps further on is the main railway station of Cádiz. This railway station
Estación de Cádiz on the Plaza de Sevilla, near the harbour, which serves as a central transfer point for long-distance, medium-distance and suburban trains (Cercanías), plays an important role in local public transport.
The modern station was opened in 2002, is built in glass and steel and offers ticket counters and ticket machines as well as a cafeteria. It is the most populous railway gateway in the province of Cádiz and a hub for journeys within Andalusia and throughout Spain.
The station is located in the Plaza de Sevilla, just one kilometre north of the harbour entrance and can be reached on foot, by train, bus or taxi.

The modern station was inaugurated in 2002 and is characterised by its steel and glass construction.
It offers connections for long and medium distance trains as well as for local trains (Cercanías Cádiz), which connect the city with other important places in Andalusia.
