You see here an abstract painted portrait made in a number of colours. How did this painting come about?
From a portrait photo I photographed, I made a series of painted portraits with a different creative angle each time. So from the same photo each time. This photo is of a person I love.
This way of working inspires me and helps me coddle my source with beautiful influences from art, but above all I look for myself. How do I put it down and this should feel like my authenticity. I only stop painting when I have a certain feeling that is recognisable to me. If it is to my liking, I am a bit in love with it in the days after.
On each portrait, I have included the light and shadow whatever you see in the photograph.
My characteristic is that I mainly work with the palette knife. This happened naturally when I started working with acrylic paint.
This work can hang in any room of a house. I personally really enjoy the colours and my eyes are always drawn to them. You look for the eyes and the mouth and maybe you find it when you look at it in a certain way. Just as you have this in contact with others. The recognition and mystery we all have within us. Who are you and who am I?
