Space, the planets, the stars: a subject that has always fascinated me. Taking trips to the moon or any planet other than Earth, I find it super interesting. As a small child, I would often find myself dreaming about looking at the night sky, so how fun is it to use this fascination in my photography hobby to take special photos. Photos that look like they were taken in space. Or as if they were taken with a mega-sized space telescope. And since I don't have the opportunity to travel in space and since I don't own a telescope, I use my imagination and a lot of home, garden and kitchen things to create creative 'home-made' space images. Like this homemade star nebula. The coloured star nebula contrasts beautifully with the black space containing millions of stars. I took this picture using multiple exposure: three photos taken in sequence that the camera immediately merges into one new image. It takes some practice and patience to get the desired result. But it is super fun to do and I can put all my imagination and creativity into it. As a 'photo model', I used an utensil with some sunlight on a hot day in summer. That's all it took to make this 'space' artwork!
I see making art as a creative process.
The starting point of this process for me is always a photo or a painting of my own. Every work of art on this site is therefore based on a self-made photo or painting.
I find my sources of inspiration in everything around me...
