Actually a realistic photo but the shapes, the structure and the composition also make this an abstract image. Drops and water are interesting 'things' to photograph. Droplet photography comes in many shapes and types, and for this photo I looked for a basic abstract shape with a few lines. I found this at a machine used in the kitchen. The metal is perfect for drop photography, it gives the photo extra shine and texture. On this metal object I applied drops. The pattern of tight lines on the metal and the soft roundness of the water drops is a special combination. The original photo does not contain much colour. To enhance the effect of water on metal, I chose to leave out all the colour present. In black and white, the shapes, structures and lines come out even better. The result is a particularly abstract image of a realistic subject.
I see making art as a creative process.
The starting point of this process for me is always a photo or a painting of my own. Every work of art on this site is therefore based on a self-made photo or painting.
I find my sources of inspiration in everything around me...
