About the artwork
Besides photography, being busy painting and using various painting techniques is always a fun challenge and activity to do!
For this particular and abstract artwork, I created a painting as a base. Using paint in shades of red, pink, brown and soft orange, I created a number of round shapes. Different shapes in different sizes and executed in different shades. Each round shape in this painting is surrounded by a light-coloured striking light grey line. The colours in the round shapes have not stayed within the light-grey lines everywhere. Here and there, the paint extends beyond the line.
Paint that goes outside the lines, as a comparison to life, where people do not always allow themselves to be placed within the accepted lines. People also sometimes want to step outside these lines because it allows them to be more themselves. Unfortunately, this is then not always accepted by others.
This was the inspiration to digitally convert the original painting. The delineated neat round shapes have been converted into an abstract pattern of different shapes and lines, which as far as I am concerned symbolise the diversity and uniqueness of all the different people on this earth. Everyone is different and everyone is allowed to be there, regardless of orientation, belief or appearance!
