Aerial photo of Texel The source of this imagery is from the 2017 Land Registry aerial photo dataset. It is a collage of Aerial photos that have been stitiched and post-processed in photoshop. As a result, it has a very higher resolution and individual buildings are visible. Texel is an island in the Wadden Sea and is the largest of the Dutch Wadden Islands. It can be reached by ferry from the port in Den Helder. The island is about 31 km long and 5 km wide and has an area of about 169 km². The island is a popular holiday destination for Dutch and foreigners, with plenty of nature, beautiful beaches and various activities such as hiking, cycling and bird-watching. Texel is also known for its sheep farms and cheese production. There are several villages on the island, including Den Burg, the administrative centre of Texel, and Oudeschild, home port of the fishing fleet. There are many recreational opportunities on the island, such as the National Park the Dunes of Texel, the Ecomare seal sanctuary and the Texelsche Golfclub.
