This classic car enthusiast was hugely interested in this car. The choice was made to depict him and the piece of car he was looking into blurred and the first part of the car sharp. The middle line draws the viewer across the bonnet towards the double windows. The line corresponds exactly to where the man is looking.
Black and white because this still reflects a more intimate setting. No distractions with all the other colours appearing around the scene.
Not everyone will immediately recognise the sharp part as a bonnet, but once you get to the blurred part, it becomes immediately clear.
The blurred man is in the top corner because his viewing area is the main subject and not himself.
