Watercolour painting of a panda

by Christian Ovís

‘Watercolour of a Panda’ depicts a frontal portrait of the animal, with round, dark ears and black patches around the eyes. The light-coloured head and white muzzle stand out against the dark blue and grey areas on the chest. Turquoise splashes run down the right-hand side, whilst a small pink and orange accent softens the left cheek. The background remains largely white with scattered traces of colour.

The composition has a soft, watercolour-like quality. The eyes, nose and mouth are clearly recognisable, whilst the outer edges and underside blend together more freely. Small highlights lend clarity to the gaze. The black eye patch and dark ears ensure the panda’s shape remains recognisable amidst the blue accents. The contrast between open white areas and deep areas of colour brings the portrait to life. The central positioning keeps the composition calm and well-organised.

This panda wall decoration is ideal for a nursery, children’s bedroom, playroom or colourful living room. Blue, grey and white combine well with wood and calm neutral tones; pink can provide a soft accent. A plain wall gives the portrait plenty of space. From a distance, the round ears and eyes catch the eye. Up close, the fine fur strokes, small highlights and individual splashes become visible.
