About the artwork
Leaves of plants and trees are an inexhaustible source of inspiration for me to create artistic and creative works of art. This is because leaves come in such a variety of shapes, colours and patterns. Leaves are nature's works of art and all the shapes, colours and patterns invite me to make something beautiful out of them. This photo is actually a combination of a photograph and a painting. What I find important is to give my 'photo models' the right background, a background that suits them in terms of colour or pattern. A leaf of a fern is a work of art in itself. On the underside of such a leaf are lots of brown dots: the seeds of the plant. This dot pattern inspired me to add dots to the background too. Dots in all kinds of natural colours. This background is painted and the fern leaf is printed on it with paint. I photographed the paint-treated fern leaf separately from the background. So for this artistic work of art, two photos were mixed together. This gives a special effect, as if the painted leaf is the shadow of the photographed leaf. In short, a beautiful and soothing work of art that brings the atmosphere of nature into your home.
