View of Le Mont Saint Michel from Jardin des plantes in Avranches. From here you have a magnificent view of this iconic spot, which here emerges somewhat mysteriously from the mists.
You can see the Couenesnon river meandering beautifully through the landscape here.
Not only this island has been on UNESCO's World Heritage List since 1979, but also the surrounding bay.
Located between Cancale and Granville, this bay has a wide variety of biotopes. The saline meadows, densely covered with herbs and grasses, are a place where sheep can graze undisturbed.
In the picture, you can see that Le Mont is precisely centred and your eye is immediately drawn to it. The sky and the landscape, with the meandering river, are represented roughly equally in the image.
I love this part of France immensely.
The coast here is rugged and the tides are strong, with sometimes as much as 13 metres difference between ebb and flood and this happens at a rapid pace.
