About "Båstnäs' mystical car cemetery"

by Gerry van Roosmalen

About the artwork

In the desolate forest of Båstnäs, time seems to stand still. Under a tree with a crown spreading out like an umbrella of delicate branches, decaying cars rest, each with its own story. The infrared camera reveals a surreal world: the foliage radiates an ethereal glow, while the cars lurk in shadows of days gone by.

The bodies, distorted by rust over the years and taken over by moss, become sculptures of impermanence. Their metal surfaces reflect invisible light, blurring the lines between reality and dream. It seems as if nature is slowly embracing these vehicles, absorbing them into its eternal cycle.

The mystical atmosphere raises questions: Where did these cars come from? Who once proudly drove these weathered vehicles? In this silent forest, only the trees and memories of a lost time whisper.
