Early in the morning, when the sky is still dark and the sea is straining its last strength, the Reynisdrangar slowly begin to emerge from the haze. The tide drops slowly, the rock bottom emerges, revealing what was previously hidden below the waterline. The waves continue to arrive relentlessly, but their strength diminishes. Yet the sea continues to fight, trying frantically to hold onto the beach, like an old battle never quite won.
The stones gleam wet from the ongoing battle between water and land, as the ocean repeatedly waves the shore, as if to challenge the rocks once more. The moment feels quiet, as if nature itself takes a breath, the horizon slowly opening up to a new day. In the far distance, where the Reynisdrangar cast their silhouettes unmoved against the horizon, it seems as if the rocks hold the ocean still, in an eternal dance of nature's violence.
