What a beach! Playa Barrosa in Novo Sancti Petri on the Costa de la Luz offers 4 kilometres of the finest white sandy beach and is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful beaches in Spain.
The Costa de la Luz in Spain has numerous great beaches. Playa La Barrosa is one of the most popular holiday destinations in Andalusia thanks to its length and great location. It belongs to the town of Chiclana de la Frontera in the province of Cádiz.
The beach is popular not only for its size, but also for the range of services it offers and its clean sand and sea. This is honoured annually with the "Blue Flag" and a "Q" for quality in tourism.
Services on the beach in Novo Sancti Petri include showers, toilets and sun lounger and parasol hire. Lifeguards ensure the safety of swimmers and bathers. Long, barrier-free wooden walkways provide easy access to the beach and sea. There is plenty to eat and drink in the beach bars (chiringuitos).
Nudism is not officially permitted at Playa Barrosa. For this, you have to go to the two bays Calas de Poniente and Cala del Aceite in the neighbouring town of Conil de la Frontera.
Incidentally, the famous "Battle of La Barrosa" (also known as the "Battle of Chiclana") took place at Playa Barrosa in 1811, in which Anglo-Spanish troops crushed Napoleon.
