Beautiful morning red sky over the IJsselmeer near Den Oever. The stones and poles in the foreground, together with the lighthouse on the horizon marking the entrance to the harbour, create a nice depth effect. The long shutter speed brings calm to the photo. Great enjoyment of Holland waterland. by Bram Lubbers

The IJsselmeer is part of the IJsselmeer region and was created by closing off part of the Zuiderzee. The Afsluitdijk was completed on 28 May 1932 and the official name change of the closed part of the Zuiderzee took place on 20 September 1932. The lake was named after the river IJssel, which flows into it.
