This photograph plays with the power of sharpness and resolution. The eye is inevitably drawn along the structured surface of the foreground - every groove, every trace of time is visible. But as soon as the eye moves on, reality slips away. The background becomes blurred, transforming into dancing points of light, almost like memories that elude clear access.
The image thrives on the tension between precision and dissolution, between that which is tangible and that which exists only as a suggestion. Photography becomes a poetic tool here: it not only shows the visible world, but also the invisible - the transitions, the emptiness, the feeling of the in-between.
The technique of focussed depth of field reinforces this impression. It radically separates foreground and background, and yet the line connects everything, as if it were a thread linking reality and the dream world.
