About ‘Between glass and emptiness’ by Filip D´hooghe

An abandoned greenhouse complex stands austere and almost monumental before the camera. The symmetrical arrangement of the two greenhouses lends the image an almost architectural perfection, whilst the dilapidated state of the whole evokes a sense of transience. The glass, the metal frames and the repetitive lines form a complex pattern in which order and decay constantly alternate. Behind the transparent façades, there is scarcely any sign of life left. The bare ground and withered vegetation reinforce that sense of abandonment. Even the doors seem to be waiting for someone who will never return. The subdued colours and the soft, cool light lend the photograph a restrained, almost melancholic atmosphere. The road and cycle lane in the foreground simultaneously anchor the building firmly within the everyday landscape. What was once a place of growth and activity appears here as a silent reminder of what has passed. An image of architecture, time and transience, captured in almost perfect symmetry.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
