This monochrome black-and-white photograph shows a lone African elephant standing majestically on the bank of a waterhole, its ears spread wide and its trunk extended. The rendering in shades of grey gives the photo a timeless, classic look. The elephant's original surroundings have been replaced by an almost white background, giving the photo its high-key character. I took the photo in Mapungubwe National Park in South Africa. A colour version of this work is also available.
