The blue magpie (Cyanopica cooki; synonym: Cyanopica cyanus) is a bird of the crow family (Corvidae). This species is still often regarded as a subspecies of the Asian blue magpie. (C. cyanus).
The bird is 34 to 36 cm long and weighs 65 to 76 g. In appearance and behavior, the blue magpie resembles the common magpie but is larger (40 to 51 cm long). Furthermore, the Iberian blue magpie has a shorter beak, missing white dots on the tail, the blue on the wings and the tail is slightly brighter. Males and females do not have different physical characteristics.
