About ‘Bo Kaap’ by shari-art

“Bo Kaap” is inspired by the colourful vibrancy of the neighbourhood of the same name in Cape Town. Rather than directly depicting the familiar houses, the work translates their distinctive colour palette into an abstract composition of layers, textures and contrasts. Rosé, Bordeaux, turquoise, cream, gold, earthy tones and rust lie layered upon one another like fragments of memory. Some areas appear smooth and calm, others rough, cracked and almost weathered. This creates a vibrant surface reminiscent of walls, façades, streets and the many traces of a mature neighbourhood.

The horizontal bands of colour give the picture a clear structure and, at the same time, a rhythm of its own. Between bold and subdued tones, an exciting balance of energy and tranquillity emerges.

For me, ‘Bo Kaap’ is less a depiction of a place than the feeling that this place leaves behind: warmth, diversity, history and colour. The work brings this special atmosphere into the room in abstract form: expressive, modern and full of life.

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
