A boat passes under Blackfriars Railway Bridge London, under the new bridge to the left and past the remaining red columns of the old bridge across the River Thames. The original bridge was built in 1864 but gradually became weak and unable to bear the weight of new trains. In 1985 the original bridge was removed just leaving the red columns. A new bridge was built and opened in 1886, originally called St Paul's Railway Bridge. When St Paul's railway station became Blackfriars in 1937 the name of the bridge changed as well.
