Klützer Winkel, on the edge of the town of Klütz in Mecklenburg, is home to the largest preserved Baroque complex in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The castle was modelled on English and Dutch designs and was built for the Imperial Count Hans Caspar von Bothmer, who was in the service of the English royal family, as the ancestral seat of his family. It stands on a rectangular island, which is surrounded by a ravine in the Dutch style. The graft was used to drain the damp area on which the castle's foundation walls were built. Bothmer Castle consists of the main house, also known as the Corps de Logis, the cavalier houses with connecting buildings, the galleries and, as head buildings, the coach house and the riding hall. Bothmer Palace was built between 1726 and 1732. The festoon avenue leading to the castle, consisting of lime trees arranged in a trellis pattern, is a unique garden monument in Germany. Bothmer Castle is located near the Baltic seaside resort of Boltenhagen. The next largest town is the Hanseatic city of Wismar.
