On the 8th day of our fly and drive, we headed out early ad . Our first stop was the glacial lake. No way to describe what you see here. When we got out of the car, we both had a Wow moment. Impressive.
First let it all sink in and look around before taking pictures's. The sun was just rising.
Jökulsárlón lies south of the Vatnajökull glacier, between Skaftafell and the town of Höfn, and is the most famous and largest glacial lake in Iceland.
The ring road runs right past it; it is easily accessible.
In the lake, white, light blue and icebergs coloured grey and black by volcanic dust float around. They have the most flared shapes.
With a depth of about 200 metres, Jökulsárlón is currently the second deepest lake in the country. It formed in the years 1934-1935 and got bigger and bigger.
