Bright spots on the move

by Marlot Grouve

This work depicts a gentle dance of colour and light: large, dreamy circles that blend into one another as if floating in a warm evening sky. The pastel yellow and pink spheres seem almost to glow, whilst subtle shades of blue and green recede deeper into the background. Look a little longer and you’ll notice small nuances: an almost transparent circle hovering just off-centre, a faint horizontal glow crossing the image like a whisper of movement, and the way some colours just touch one another without blending completely. The whole piece feels like a moment you’re trying to hold on to — soft, fleeting, warm. The inspiration for this work arose from the idea that light always finds a way, even in stillness. I wanted to capture the atmosphere of those moments when you pause for a moment and realise that little points of light carry your day. Think of sunlight filtering through curtains, or the soft glow of lights on a summer evening.
The emotion I wish to convey is peace and hope. The work exudes a calm energy, as if inviting you to breathe more deeply and slow down for a moment. The technique is built up intuitively: layer upon layer, colour upon colour, until an almost tangible softness emerged. In an interior, this work brings warmth and serenity. It fits beautifully in spaces where tranquillity, softness and a touch of dreaminess are welcome. Maximum size of 55x80cm.
