You can hardly imagine what kind of performance these little animals achieve. For 500 g of honey, the bees have to complete 40,000 flights. In doing so, they cover up to 120,000 km. During the nectar harvest, the bees pollinate countless flowers "on the way". Bees are therefore more than honey producers, they are among the most important pollinators of wild and cultivated plants. Through successful pollination, they form the basis for rich harvests in the cultivation of rape, fruit, vegetables, and other flowering plants. Not only agriculture but also nature is dependent on a functioning pollination system. 80% of the plants native to Germany need the honey bee as a pollinator. To ensure this, a sufficient number of bee colonies must be present in our cultivated landscape.
