In the soft evening light of sunset on the large but shallow lake of Bigi Pan Suriname, a large group of Flamingo's flies over. The group had just foraged in Bigi Pan's shallow lake before that. The pink colour is determined by their diet of pink shrimps and crabs
The photo was taken with a 500mm telephoto lens + 1.4 converter. This from a slender wooden canoe with little draft that the guide used to show me the nature reserve. The area has a great diversity of many waterbirds and is fortunately still protected.
