This image captures a finely sculpted window of the Prag Mahal Palace in Bhuj, in the Indian state of Gujarat. A testament to a glorious past, the architecture displays a blend of Indo-Gothic styles, characteristic of this palace built in the 19th century under British colonial influence. The wear and tear of time is visible on the stone and brick walls, where the cracks and shades of ochre give the whole a melancholy atmosphere steeped in history. The window itself, although closed, still reveals exquisitely carved details, particularly under its small corbelled balcony, typical of traditional Indian architecture. The contrast between the richness of the decoration and the gradual erosion of the building illustrates the fragility of heritage in the face of the passage of time and the earthquakes that have marked this region.
