About "Chalk cliffs in the Jasmund National Park"

About the artwork

Enchanting limestone rocks in the Jasmund National Park on the beautiful island of Rügen on the Baltic Sea. This nature shot was taken with the Nikon D90 on 4 August 2013 during my summer holiday on the Baltic coast.

The vastness of the Great Jasmund Bodden, the picturesque sunrises and sunsets, the mirror-smooth sea in calm weather and the spray that the storm drives in front of it, the reed belts and forests around the Bodden have always attracted nature lovers and romantics. These depictions can be found in many drawings and paintings by the Romantics.
The Small and the Great Jasmund Bodden belong to the North Rügen waters. The Bodden water is hardly salty and is considered a true angler's paradise. Both bodies of water are popular with locals and tourists for swimming and sailing. With an area of around 60 square kilometres, the Great Jasmund Bodden is one of the largest bodden waters in the Baltic Sea. There is a very varied cycle tour around the Little Jasmund Bodden.

Caspar David Friedrich also sought out the proximity to the water, and he used the breathtaking impressions in his drawings and paintings.
