About the artwork

Digital adaptation of the painting titled 'Children of the sea'. Four children play with a toy sailboat in the water by the beach. The eldest boy carries a child on his back. This lovely scene contains a message. The fishing children with their shabby clothes and meagre toys give us a picture of their future. The eldest boy carries the burden of the family on his shoulders and the little boat represents the hard life at sea. Jozef Israëls first painted this theme in 1863. It was hugely popular and Israels repeated it many times afterwards. A visible sun has been added to this edited version, as a reference to modern times when life has become much more pleasant for children. Art with a wink, from old masters and new masters. About the image maker: as a born and bred Amsterdammer, Peter feels a close connection to the city of Amsterdam. Over the years, he has captured the city of Amsterdam in many iconic works. He has also earned his spurs as a digital artist, especially with adaptations of old masters (Vincent van Gogh, Johannes Vermeer and Rembrandt van Rijn) that he has given a modern twist and fit perfectly into a modern interior. Peters' work is widely sold and hangs on walls in various European countries.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
